On March 10, 1991 AEROMED, New York Hospital’s BK117, relocated their base from 60th Street Heliport in New York City to Westchester Medical Center’s Helipad.  They were in the final year of their contract with Rocky Mountain Helicopters and were looking to expand into the Scene call business (there was none in NYC).

On March 1, 1992 STAT Flight started service when Westchester Medical Center took over the contract with Rocky Mountain Helicopters and put their own flight team on the helicopter.  They also had a second crew doing Critical Care Transports on a ground ambulance.

The parking helipad, located on the NW side of the hospital, has space for three aircraft with an adjacent fuel system, Maintenance Shed and Equipment Connex.  The office space and crew rooms are conveniently located 25 yards from the helipad in the hospital.  There is also a helideck located on the South side of the hospital next to the new ER and Children’s Hospital
